Understanding Mood Disorders

Mood disorders are a category of mental health conditions that primarily affect a person’s emotional state. They can lead to persistent feelings of sadness, irritability, or elevated mood, and often interfere with daily functioning, relationships, and overall quality of life. While mood changes are a normal part of life, mood disorders involve ongoing or severe disturbances that require clinical attention.

Common Mood Disorders We Support

Our team works with individuals experiencing a range of mood-related conditions, including:
  • Depression
Also known as major depressive disorder, depression involves persistent low mood, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, fatigue, changes in sleep or appetite, and difficulties with concentration or motivation.
  • Bipolar Disorder
A condition marked by episodes of depression as well as periods of mania or hypomania—elevated or irritable mood, increased activity levels, impulsive behavior, and changes in thinking or sleep patterns.
  • Persistent Depressive Disorder (PDD)
A long-term, chronic form of depression where symptoms are less severe but more enduring, often lasting two years or more. Sometimes you may hear this referred to as Dysthymia.
